every second dripping off my fingertips: Starlight
Sunday, March 30, 2008

So... Last night was a big night for all of us. It was Centrestage 2008. The atmosphere was tense as we began at 3pm doing our final runs and practices, touch ups to our set and all. Our play (An MRT Ride) was 1st and I must say, we didn't do very well during our final full run. Screw ups here and there, but true to the nature of every ACSian, we remained positive.

Abhi: We're failing badly (in fact this could be picked up by the mics.. haha)
JY: Yeah but I would rather screw up now than later.
Abhi: So does this mean this is a good sign so that later we'll be better?
JY: Yes...

LOL...

And it turned out to be so. We did perform well later. In fact it was by far our best performance.

I have a few people to thank

  • Lee Jing Yan for that wonderful idea, and script, and keeping us in check most of the time. We couldn't have done it without you.
  • Abhishek Varma for playing Love Guru how it should have been played: by YOU.
  • Edward Bingei for putting so much effort into your character. You did all of us proud.
  • Adeline Ong, who despite all your problems, manage to put in a wonderful performance.
  • Wong Yi Ping, for her valuable advice to our acting etc. We look forward to working with you more in the future.
  • Adam Amil, for helping us in every aspect of rehearsals, from running and prompting lines, to giving good acting advice, and leading us in warm ups.
  • Sam Loo, Anton and Wayren for making our props and flat. You guys deserve best Stage craft (hahahaha)
  • Our make up artists whose names I do not know how to spell (please forgive my stupidity), you made all of us look good on stage. Haha.
  • Our technical staff, Lloyd Soh, Suraj and Yi Wei, ya'll did good with the lights and sounds of the play, and you helped us to bring it alive on all levels.
  • Our Zombies, you guys won best audience interaction, so well done, and thanks for your help in making our play come alive.
  • Mrs Adrianni Tee and Mrs Fanny Tan, for your advice on how we should make our script less R-rated.
  • Mr Ferdinand Quek, for making our play 10 times better on the day before the performance. Your help was very much appreciated.
And of course, God, for without him we would not have been able to put up such a great performance, and by his grace, helped us come up with this brilliant idea.
To God be the Glory, the Best is Yet to Be.

Ok I'll stop being lame now.

Haha..

And congratulations to:
  • Best Play: A Coffee Shop Incident
  • Best Actor/Actress: Luke Wu - A Coffee Shop Incident
  • Best Supporting Actor/Actress: Yvonne Mak - The Wannabe Terrorists Return
  • Best Stage Craft: Shaoyi's 14
Well done peeps. And Kudos to ACS incident. A thoroughly deserved win.
What a night it turned out to be.
