Ok so today started off like any other day. Really. It was just another math lesson, I mean, he always storms out of the class... So, yeah. At least I did some work. But I think the most eventful part of the day was the Council Voting Exercise.
Once again, people vote for people for the wrong reasons. Ok who doesn't, but I hear things like "she's lesbian so I'm not voting for her". What the heck is that??
You jolly well vote for the people you think work hard, work well, can work, and are capable of providing a good mix. Something which can help the council be a good council. (and move forward - for the gazillionth time)
Well actually my idea of a council is not one which can organise great events for the student body and what not (like the previous council, no offence), but provide something more which bonds us, which brings a new spirit to the council, which will eventually transcend a wonderful school spirit.
Ok so it seems a little far-fetched but if it did happen then boy would it be great...
Hmm.. I hope Shiru gets in. Really... This might seem biased but, she has acknowledged that the council needs to change, and she says she will take steps to see this happen. Honestly this process will not involve strategic planning and genius-ly masterminded events alone. It needs to have a good mix of people who can work and people who can carry out the work well. So anyway, good luck to the 3rd Student Council.
This is like the poem mentioned above, where all the fanfare our councilors will receive when things work out is NOTHING... The work behind the scenes normally doesn't get acknowledged. Yes... Like Wilfred Owen, I am anti-council, BUT I'm only like this because of the way council is treated by us as the student body. At some point, if we can actually change the way we look at councilors, and Year 5s for that matter, then maybe the people in their post secondary education might actually break away from the secondary school mindset that we still have. (and secondary school guys won't be so childish)
Oh and then there was Centrestage practice. Like woah man I got new lines (as few as they are). Now it's got PUNCH... Hahahaha.. *Giggles* <---- thats actually one part, which made everyone laugh their ass off, but I thought it wasn't THAT funny... And if Jingyan laughs on that day like he did today, we're quite screwed, although it'd be quite hilarious.
Yups... So that sums up my day, apart from the fact that it always sucks, it was still eventful nonetheless...
